Osh, Kyrgyz Republic, June 28, 2024 — In a significant step towards enhancing the skills and competencies of its officers, the Water Resources Service under the Ministry of Agriculture conducted a comprehensive training program from June 26 to June 28, 2024. This initiative is part of the Climate Resilient Water Services Project (CRWSP), financed by the World Bank, and aimed at improving the contract management capacity of Ministry officials involved in World Bank-financed projects.

The training, held at the Oshnuru Hotel, gathered over 28 participants from various departments, including representatives from the Jalal-Abad, Osh, Batken and other regional branches of the Ministry. The primary focus of the program was to equip the participants with essential skills in contract management, particularly under the FIDIC Conditions of Contract, and to enhance their ability to prepare and evaluate tender documents in compliance with World Bank procurement rules and procedures.

The program was inaugurated by Mr. Torogeldiev U.T., Director of the Project Implementation Unit (PIU), who underscored the importance of this training for the successful execution of the CRWSP. “This training is a crucial step towards achieving our aim of implementing the Climate Resilient Water Services Project effectively and efficiently,” stated Mr. Torogeldiev during his opening remarks.

Over the course of the three-day training session, participants engaged in a series of workshops and interactive sessions. These sessions were designed to provide hands-on experience and deepen the participants’ understanding of key aspects of contract management. Topics covered included FIDIC Conditions of Contract, the preparation of tender documents, evaluation of tenders, and adherence to World Bank procurement guidelines.

The training was led by Mr. Burak Ovayurt from Su-Yapı Engineering and Consulting Inc., Türkiye, a firm providing design and construction supervision services under the CRWSP.
